'Love Aaj Kal' as special as 'Om Shanti Om': Deepika Padukone

Since the release of "Om Shanti Om", Deepika Padukone has been seen in two more films -- "Bachna Ae Haseeno" and "Chandni Chowk To China"। But the leggie beauty insists that if at all there is a special movie after her debut vehicle, it has to be "Love Aaj Kal".

"I'm aware of the huge expectations that audiences have from 'Love Aaj Kal'। Personally speaking though, the film is beyond expectations for me. I would rather call it a very special film," Deepika told reporters on telephone.

"We all have worked so hard on it, whether director Imtiaz Ali, Saif (Ali Khan) or myself, and we have become really attached to it," said Deepika who is currently in London shooting for Sajid Khan's "Housefull" where she is paired opposite Akshay Kumar।

"Love Aaj Kal" is releasing July 31 and she is excited about the film since it is as real as it gets।

"This is why I said that after 'Om Shanti Om' if there is a film that has been really special, it is 'Love Aaj Kal'। I can state three reasons why 'Love Aaj Kal' really fascinates me.

"First, the film's storyline is such that any common man can relate to it। It's so real and, as you watch the film, you would feel that so many instances shown in it have happened to you too in real life.

"Second, the film has a universal appeal। Whether it's the younger or the older generation, all will be able to identify with the proceedings. Imtiaz has a knack for keeping things basic and very simple, something that the world saw in 'Jab We Met' and 'Socha Na Tha'. His trademark touch is prevalent in 'Love Aaj Kal' too."

The third reason for Deepika to be really ecstatic after shooting for "Love Aaj Kal" is the dialogues that promise to be as natural as they get।

"Dialogues are such that they are more of conversational variety rather than sounding scripted। Imtiaz wanted all of us to perform rather than plain and simple mug up our dialogues and rattle them down. Yes, there was a dialogue sheet given, but it was mainly for reference," she said.

It was this freedom factor that really impressed Deepika। "There was nothing cast on stone and we actors were given a free hand to mouth dialogues that came naturally to them and suited the film's situation most. I guess this was one aspect that really made me open up a lot more during the film's shoot."

With Rishi Kapoor and Rahul Khanna in pivotal roles and Neetu Singh making a guest appearance, "Love Aaj Kal" is Saif's first home production with Pritam Chakaraborty's music already topping the charts.

Hollywood।com Says Short on scares, My Bloody Valentine doesn’t improve upon its 1981 predecessor, but at least it ups the gore factor with its gimmicky 3-D shocks.

Story:

We can understand the resurrections of Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, and Michael Myers. But one-hit wonder the Miner? Yes, pickaxe-wielding mad miner Harry Warden appears to be on the rampage again. The residents of Harmony believe police fatally shot Warden after he picked off kids partying in the mine. But his body was never found. If Warden really is dead, who’s now driving his pickaxe through the heads of those connected with all the mine murders? Could it be Tom Hanniger (Jensen Ackles), the mine owner’s son responsible for the accident that turned Harry into a homicidal maniac.? Or could it be Sheriff Axel Palmer (Kerr Smith)? Caught in the middle is Sarah (Jamie King), who married Axel after Tom dumped her and fled Harmony. Worse, the killer’s set his sights on Sarah so he can finished what was started long ago down in Tunnel No. 5.
Acting:

Bearing in mind the damsel in distress must remaining standing, it’s more important that King can bust some moves than explore the emotional and psychological toll of being victimized by an unstoppable force of evil। Luckily, King prevails over her initial jitters in order to swing a mean shovel when under attack. On the other hand, wimps Ackles (Supernatural) wears nothing but a pained expression on his face, while Smith (Dawson’s Creek) is all bark and no bite. Horrors fans, though, will get a kick out of seeing ageless tough-guy Tom Atkins take on the Miner. Oh, and as for that glasses-fogging moment that’s mandatory for a 3-D chiller, it’s Betsy Rue’s unenviable task to strip down to her birthday suit as Palmer’s high school sweetheart and rub what she’s got right in our faces.
Direction:

Does it matter that this My Bloody Valentine redo fails miserably as a whodunit? Or that the only time you’re on the edge of your seat is during a tense supermarket confrontation between King and the Miner? This remake exists solely to gross you out by throwing anything and everything at you in 3-D. Eyeballs pop out, body parts drop the floor, blood and pieces of bone cover the screen -- to that end, director Patrick Lussier doesn’t disappoint. Props to him for not giving us a scene-by-scene carbon copy of one of the earliest holiday-themed Halloween knockoff, but the director falls short whenever he attempts to recreate his source material’s most nail-biting moments. So if its gore you want, you got it; but if you want to be scared out of your wits, give My Bloody Valentine the kiss off.

Her debut movie has released over a week ago to welcome box office collections, but model-turned-actor Anushka Sharma, who acted opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, is just about letting the feeling of relief sink in. “Acting in commercials is a completely different ball game than acting in movies. There’s so much that you need to keep in mind, I was quite anxious. But I enjoyed being in front of the camera. I think I’d rather do this,” says the girl from Bangalore, who shifted base to Mumbai, when her Bollywood aspirations took shape a couple of years ago.
For someone who has been signed up by Yash Raj films for a three-film contract, it’s probably the least of pre-requisites needed for a long stint in Bollywood, but at the moment, Sharma is just happy with the fairy-tale turn her career has taken. “Sometimes you cannot believe that something so good can happen to you. Shah Rukh, Adi are the kind of people, whose films you look forward to as an audience. I was quite taken aback when the offer came my way,” she says.
Shooting with Shah Rukh, of course, was a breeze. “The first day I was shooting with him, I was quite nervous. But he’s such a livewire around the sets that I was soon at ease,” she laughs. In fact, for the biking sequence in the movie, when Sharma was doing her ‘Dhoom’ act, a quirky accident landed her off the bike. “Shah Rukh rose to the occasion and did his hero act then, breaking my fall and saving me from getting hurt,” she recalls.
It was the actor too, who gave the newcomer her first token of approval after the film was canned. “When the entire shoot was over, Shah Rukh told me, ‘Thank you for making the film so beautiful’. I was extremely touched by his compliment,” she says. Now that the movie is behind her, Sharma is looking forward to her next with the Yash Raj camp. “Adi has been really busy with the film’s promotion and we haven’t had much time to sit down and discuss what next, but with so many bright talented directors in their stable, I am sure whatever it will be, will be quite exciting. I am looking forward to playing something quite different from Tani,” she says.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan says he feels awkward while doing romantic scenes with his real life girlfriend Katrina Kaif .
“For the first time, in Yuvraaj we have been paired as a romantic lead. However, I feel awkward. Besides, the audience would feel that the real life girlfriend-boyfriend story is being played on the screen,” Salman told reporters on the sets of his new film Veer at Mehboob studios.
“Also, I want the audience to give our pair the respect and dignity it deserves,” he said.
He said both Katrina and he have worked in a few films, but were not romantically paired opposite each other. Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya was a comedy and the two did not have romantic scenes while in Partner Katrina was paired opposite Govinda .
Speaking about ‘Veer’, Salman said he has written the script for the film. “It is a period film about men and honour. It also has comedy,” he said.
To a question on why he opted for Anil Sharma as a director for ‘Veer’, Salman said Katrina suggested Sharma’s name as she had worked with him earlier (in Apne ).
When asked about his role in God Tussi Great Ho releasing today, Salman said it was a comedy where the protagonist is forever complaining to God.To a question on whether he speaks to God in real life, the actor said he does so in real life too and some times people think he has gone mad.

In the R-rated comedy Role Models, Seann William Scott plays Wheeler, a spokesman for an energy drink company who dresses up as a Minotaur (which is also the name of the company) and travels school to school trying to get kids to stay off of drugs and to guzzle energy drinks instead. When his partner, Danny (Paul Rudd), has a meltdown after getting dumped by his girlfriend, the two wind up in trouble with the law and face time in jail. Rather than serve 30 days, they are sentenced to spending time volunteering to mentor kids, something neither guy has any experience with.
Wheeler's assigned to mentor Ronnie, a foul-mouthed, wise-cracking kid played by Bobb'e J Thompson. And strangely enough, Scott said he had no problem cussing in front of Thompson, who was only 11 years old at the time they shot the film. "He’s a stand-up comedian. He’s got a foul mouth, you know? He’s like a little Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, like the guys."
"But you know, we had to be careful," added Scott. "I had to just kind of do it without his mom knowing, and stuff like that. So I never felt weird about it. I mean, I know there’s been some people that are like, 'It’s kind of weird to be swearing to a kid,' but people do that. And that’s kind of the point of the movie. That’s what makes it kind of funny, is hearing a little kid swear and then adults speaking to a kid as if he’s 32." In real life Scott does see himself as a role model for kids. "I could be, yeah," said Scott at the LA press junket for Role Models. "I was kind of a role model for Bobb'e, actually. Like, he has a genius mind. And the first couple days I think he really felt like he had something to prove. Then I just spent a lot of time with him, and then he let his guard down and he showed himself to be a typical 11 year old, 10 year old sweet kid. So I spent a lot of time with him and I tried to be a good influence. But I’m not the best role model. I am with my nephew, although when his dad’s been away, I’ve had him watch all the American Pie movies and Road Trip and Old School," admitted Scott. "I’m like, 'Ear muffs! All hype no show – Wish I could give this one line review of Drona. Disappointing fare from Goldie Behl.
Like all super hero films the story is simple – Hero fights to save the world from a villain who wants to be immortal. The only difference being, that this superhero is straight out of Indian mythology with an Indian look.The biggest pain in the movie was Kay Kay Menon’s character Riz Raizada. Poor characterization puts Menon’s effort to waste. The character seems to be inspired by Batman’s Joker. His weird and garish wardrobe and hairstyle makes him look like a gay… really a torture.
The movie reminded me of that tacky serial of our childhood Alif Laila where the virtuous desi-super hero fights all odds to beat the villain. The challenges that Drona faces to succeed in his mission are far from impressive. The sword fights and car chases are all clichéd.
Abhishek Bachchan, quite honestly speaking is unsuitable for the role of a Super hero. One cannot help but make the unjust comparison with Hrithik Roshan in Krrish. Also, he lacks the physique of an action hero; he should work that belly flab out.
Priyanka Chopra could’ve been called the saving grace if her character was a little stronger. Jaya Bachchan has a small role, in most of which is she seems she is almost crying.
However, the actual saving grace of Drona is the special effects of the movie. The only thing you could bear the movie for. Otherwise a movie with a lousy story, average performances and poor screenplay and direction could just be called a ‘waste of time and effort’.

There was quite a controversy about your remarks on housemate Sambhavana Seth.

When I came in, my friends told me that there would be a contestant named Sambhavana Seth, who is an item girl. I have a clean image and am dignified. Since I have to live in a house with a girl like her, my party members got apprehensive. I didn't even know who she was nor have I seen any of her songs. So I told my well-wishers that I was not in the house to do anything with her. For me, she was just another contestant.

My friends were worried if I was given a task to massage Sambhavana's body, like in the previous season. How would I manage that? I was sure I wouldn't do such a cheap and undignified act.

With this reference, I asked a question -- an item girl has a image of letting go all of her shame and dignity and is willing to go to any extent to do things. Why is that so? What could be the possible justification for this kind of act? The most important thing for an Indian woman is to safeguard her reputation and dignity and never compromise with it. So I just asked a simple question: why do item girls compromise their dignity and respect? All she had to do was answer my question and justify her act.

Instead, she lost her cool and brought the house down. Now what I derived from this reaction was that she didn't have an answer. That's why she got angry. Secondly, she still has shame and gets upset when somebody points a finger on her dignity. That said, she has apologised for her behaviour.

Of course, I would not react in the same manner as her. There is a difference between us and that difference should remain. She also pointed out why such questions are asked by only politicians and no one else. I agree with her. Politicians are answerable to the public. When someone is in a responsible position and has the power to stop atrocities, why don't they?

Reality shows have become new path for channels...Nachke dikha,jhalak dikhlaja,dhoom machaade...
Some shows are awesome and truly entertaining.. But as it always happens when one thing becomes successful there are lot of followers ..so each channel has its own version..some are hit ,some fall miserably....

I would like to mention ,one good show here.Amul Voice Of India.It has been one of the shows which has been treat to watch.Good singers ..Last version was excellent with two little wonders from ahmedabad and calcutta did steal the show...I wonder how much talent india has and how diverse india is where two finalist competing stay thousands of kilometers apart.
Coming to current version of voice of india...They have added a new concept...one singer from one state...There are some very good singers like das from jharkhand (she was part of sare ga ma ,2 years back)..Delhi fellow is also nice.
Here i would like to mention specially one name and that is zhakir hussian...He is representing chattisgarh ..He has polio and cant walk without support of crutches...
Incidently he did share his story about how he got polio...When he was just 1 year old...He had fever and his mother took him to doctor..Doctor did give him injection which reacted...How harsh life could be??.One mistake of a doctor and life of zakhir got totally dependent of cruthes...
But good news is that his spirit was intact...Reaction of injection couldnot break down the spirit...His voice became his major asset..and he is still there...he is fighting all odds and competing with the world in his own way...
There are so many zakhir hussians around us...who teach us to arise every day and march ahead...
I dont know who would be winner of voice of india -2008 but zakhir has surely inspired lot of us through his will power,attitude and talent...
Mr zakhir ...keep going ...
